The music program at
MIPC responds to the needs of
the congregation as expressed through the Worship and Music Committee.
The music program at MIPC provides many opportunities for members and guests
to express their talents. Each activity is briefly described below.
New members are welcome at any time of year.
Adult Choir:
The adult vocal choir is composed of between 10 and 15 members who meet
every Thursday evening from 7:30 P.M. to around 9:00 P.M.. A person
can participate in this program once they reach Junior High School.
The choir's role in Sunday worship is to lead the congregation in hymn
singing and the presentation of a choral anthem beginning the second week in
September and lasting until the 3rd week in June. The choir also
participates in a Thanksgiving interfaith service where about 100 voices provide
inspirational music and a Christmas interfaith choral sing were about 50
voices close the Christmas season. On a typical year, the choir will
prepare and present to the congregation about 40 anthems which vary in
musical style from classical to contemporary.
Bell Choir:
MIPC's bell choir, under the direction of Kim Costello, is composed
about 12 ringers. The bell
choir meets on Monday night from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.. A person
can participate in this program as soon as they reach the fifth grade.
The Bell Choir generally plays at one service per month beginning in late September
and continuing through June as well as performing in other settings
throughout the year.
Instrumentalists:
MIPC offers the opportunity for instrumentalists to contribute to worship by
participating in the congregational hymns, choral anthems and mediational
music. On a typical year, the following instruments have been used to
enhance the worship service: bassoon, clarinet, drums, flute, guitar,
saxophone, cello, violin, oboe and trumpets. Instrumentalists
participate several times per month throughout the course
of the year.
Sunday School Music:
As part of Sunday School, all students participate in a youth music program.
The music consists of congregational hymns, Christmas pageant music, and
youth hymns.
Youth Music:
Starting in 2005, MIPC has the blessing of having in "in resident"
Christain Rock Band. The C.L.A.I.M. is comprised of members of our
High School Youth Group and has performed at the church, the Presbytery Camp
in Holmes, New York and at other area events .

Children's Choir:
Our Children's Choir under the direction of Carl Ferrara rehearse from
12 to1P.M. on most Sundays after service.
Children's Instrumental Ensemble:
The Children's Instrumental Ensemble under the direction of Bill
Goodland is the newest music program in our church. While anyone is welcome to
play, the selections are geared towards children who have at least one year
experience playing a band or orchestral instrument in school. Rehearsals
are generally after service for several weeks preceding a performance.
The ensemble performs several times a year.
